Fashion photography in Yokohama

An afternoon in Yokohama, shooting a series of promotional fashion shots for a Faroe Islands knitwear brand.

I’ve know Sissal and her brand ‘Shisa’ for a few years now. We always try to do a shoot each time she comes to Japan. This year, sadly, her trip went awry because of the obvious issues with Covid-19. She came, was here for just a few days and, on advice from her Embassy, had to return to the Faroes.

Sad for her. Sad for me. I enjoy our time together.

So, I’m sharing a few photos from the shoot we did back in 2018, in Yokohama, with Sui as model.

Great team, as usual: Sissal and her wonderful creations, props and styling ideas; our model Sui from the Belonna agency in Tokyo managed by my friend Kyoko. And, last but not least, Masako assisting. I know Yokohama pretty well but it’s Masako’s home town. So she always has some great suggestions for locations.

These were shot towards the end of the 2018 sakura season. All natural light. Mix of locations around Motomachi, the Hotel New Grand and Yamashita Park.

Nikon D800e and Hasselblad H4D-40.

There’s an article here about the shoot we did with Mari, in 2017.
